HRVATASKA ZORA – 2008 END OF YEAR PRESENTATION
“NIKOLINSKI RU
ČAK”

Sunday 07th of December 2008, F.A. Hrvatska Zora members sang gospel hymns along side vlč. Josip Vranješ at Sunshine Catholic Church, for the celebration of their Nikolinska end of year lunch.

Gracing the mass in a large number of participants, they grasped the crowed with their harmonic voices. This included the ‘maleni’ and ‘pripremni’ group singing ‘Vječna je ljubav’ on their own, which left jaw dropping mass participants in awe at how well the young members of the group grasped the song.

Following mass, a rich lunch was had for all guests at the Sunshine Centre to celebrate this event. Opening the program was the MC for the day Mr Steve Tomin, who introduced all the groups, as well as seized the audience with his lively enthusiasm throughout the day.

Starting the program; the Orchestra along side the ‘kvalitetni’ group opened with the Croatian National Anthem, followed by a lively rendition of the song ‘Alaj fino’ (from the Baranja region). This was followed by the ‘kvalitetni’ group performing the first of many dances for the day with the choreography ‘Baranja’.

Following the ‘kvalitetni’, the ‘maleni’ group showed their rendition of the choreography ‘Slavonija’ on stage, doing their dance teacher proud. All the extra practises had proven its self, as not a step was out of place.

Pripremni showed their beauty by performing a dance from ‘Baranja’. Looking amazing in their new nošnje they showed the crowed that they had perfected their voices and steps, in order to deliver a polished performance.

With the orchestra in fine tune, they showed the crowed how good they really are by playing their way through songs from different Croatian regions. Not only were people singing along, they got up to dance to their amazing talents and finished with a long ‘kolo’ that got most visitors and guests up and dancing.

Once everyone had gotten off the dance floor to rest their sore feet, ‘Maleni’ went up on stage to do their second astonishing performance of the day which is by far one of their personal favourite choreographies, and that is ‘Mi smo djeca vesela’.

With the MC going back on stage to announce the final and one of the most anticipated choreographies of the day, ‘kvalitetni’ alongside the orchestra got back up on stage to unveil to F.A. Hrvatska Zora’s home-based supporters the premier of the choreography ‘Lika’; wearing their new ‘Ličke nošnje’ from our homeland..

From the first moment the instrument ‘samica’ was strung and the very first note of our ‘prvi glas’ was sung, the audience were glued to their seats. The choreography is based on a typical night before a wedding in the Croatian region of ‘Lika’. This dance isn’t just about movement, it is a story which the audience understood, and was told through song and dance.

Once the ‘official’ program had completed, one of the most anticipated parts of the day was to begin; that is the congratulations and recognitions of all members with a trophy. With that followed a special appearance from ‘Sveti Nikola’ who had bought presents for all children in attendance; which got many of them over excited at the presents they had gotten.

With the formalities over, Mato and Danny from “Magla” played the most wanted and sought after songs bringing everyone to their feet to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

F.A. Hrvatska Zora would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors – including our major sponsor Sky Air Services – who have in one way or another helped and supported the group throughout 2008. We would also like to thank all the parents who helped on our special day and to everyone who donated to our rich list of raffle prizes for our function. F.A. Hrvatska Zora is wishing all readers, members and supporters a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.
